Updates from NC C.O.P.S. Chapter President Kim Murray

  • With the COVID still very active and the Phase 2 restrictions still in place for NC, having a quarterly meeting for NC C.O.P.S is not possible at the moment. I thought I would send out an email and address the matters at hand. First I would like to let everyone know that we have updated our email list and included new families and also several individuals who live in NC but lost their officer in another state. If you would prefer to not receive future emails from the NC COPS Chapter please let me know by sending an email to:

  • For our families who live in NC but lost their officer in another state, we would love for you to be a part of our chapter. We are all a part of the “Blue Family”. I hope to get the chance to meet some of you in the future.

  • The chapter is planning to meet on September 12th  to do goody bags for several police departments for Thank a Police Officer Day. We want to allow our survivors who come and help with the bags to be able to deliver some of them to the department of their choice.  Last year we did almost 600 bags for the 3 training centers in NC as well as the Highway Patrol. Time and location will be determined at a later date. We will also be doing our contest again in November allowing our survivors to nominate a department to be entered into a drawing for a plaque and a large basket of goodies to be awarded in January for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD). Last year we had the honor of presenting to Lumberton Police Department as well as Concord Police Department. They were both so very appreciative of the kind gesture.

  • If anyone has ideas for our chapter please reach out to us. It can be ideas for events for our survivors, LE or fundraisers. We also have two board positions that terms are up for on March 31 – Vice President and secretary. We would love to have some new comers join our board. The chapter training would be a valuable asset if you are considering serving on the board.

I hope everyone continues to stay healthy during these trying times and I hope to be able to meet with you soon.

Take Care

Kimberly P. Murray
