Remaining National C.O.P.S. Hands-On Programs to be Held Virtually

Official Statement from National C.O.P.S. Board and Staff:

  • On behalf of the C.O.P.S. National Board and Staff, we announce the difficult decision to move the remainder of the Hands-On Programs for 2020 to virtual platforms instead of in-person. This includes Fiances/Significant Others, Siblings, Spouses, Parents, Co-Workers, Co-Workers for Couples, Extended Family, Adult Children, and Young Adults Camp.

  • This decision has been made after C.O.P.S was informed the YMCA Trout Lodge, the host of the majority of the programs, is imposing more travel restrictions at their facility. With the increase of COVID-19 cases across the nation, those participants traveling from "hot spots" would not be allowed to visit the Trout Lodge. This will likely impact about 52% of participants and even more counselors that would be in attendance. Keeping the health and wellness of survivors at the forefront, all in-person Hands-On programs will be held virtually to avoid traveling.

  • Recent news of a possible COVID-19 vaccine in the upcoming months gives hope for continued programs to be held in-person in 2021. In the meantime, C.O.P.S. is taking additional measures to create virtual ways to connect with each other and our entire membership. We are excited about some new opportunities. Be sure to follow us on social media or opt-in for email correspondence to get all the updated information.

  • While these times of constant unknowns seem to be happening more often, one thing that will always stay consistent is the peer support of survivors to survivors, as well as the general support of the C.O.P.S National Board and Staff.

  • We may be apart, but we are always TOGETHER.
